This Gender  ToT  manual was originally developed in 2014 by WECF and their partners under the project “Empowering Women – Benefit (for) All (EWA)”, which worked with women with low incomes in rural and semi-urban regions in Afghanistan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, South Africa, Macedonia, Tajikistan and Uganda. It has since been updated, revised and expanded to provide a standard set of training materials based on concepts of gender equality, gender analysis and gender mainstreaming. This is a collection of tools accompanied by appropriate theoretical explanations and additional information. Designed for coaches and facilitators, the manual will help them prepare new coaches and can also be used when working with community members.
The manual ensures that the training participants get an introductory knowledge of the topic, and start to think about gender issues and decide how these issues should be addressed in the context of their work related to sustainable development. The hope is that the implementation of gender training according to the proposed scenarios will promote gender-sensitive, results-oriented planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of activities, programs and policies. The tools presented they can also help improve leadership skills.
The manual can also be used when organizing trainings in different gender programs, such as EWA
the program, which aims to contribute to the economic and political empowerment of women and WOMEN2030
the project, which focuses on achieving gender-equitable goals for sustainable development (SDGs). With the support of
European Union and German International Cooperation (GIZ), this program is implemented by WECF and
partners from 2018. In addition, trainings based on this manual can be an integral part of
the general process of capacity building in communities.
The first part of the manual explains the principles of starting the training, suggests ways in which
the participants can get to know each other and it introduces them to the focus topic.
